How A Low Carb Diet Can Improve Insulin Resistance
Eating many carbs, no matter what type of carbs can initiate an insulin resistance. After consuming carbohydrates, your digestive system breaks down the carbs and turns them into sugar. The sugar is released into your blood which raises your blood sugar. Your pancreas then produces insulin that prompts cells to absorb blood sugar for energy and storage.

Scientific research throughout the years show a connection between skin tags, insulin resistance and diabetes. The following are some of those studies.
Way back in 1976, when people were doing the Hustle on the dance floors, a study was conducted of 500 people in the hospital. Nine percent of the 500 people had skin tags. This doesn’t sound like a large number, but 72% of those people had type 2 diabetes (r).
216 people with skin tags were checked for the presence of diabetes. The researchers concluded skin tags may serve as a way to diagnosis people as a high risk of diabetes. They also concluded skin tags are linked with impaired carbohydrate metabolism. This is when your body doesn’t have enough enzymes to break down carbs causing sugar levels to increase (r).
Researchers studied 120 people with skin tags. They found out 88 of them had diabetes, 6 of them were glucose intolerant and 4 of them had reactive hypoglycemia. The researchers noted people with skin tags should be evaluated for diabetes and skin tags are markers for underlying impaired carbohydrate metabolism (r).
This study compared 2 groups of people, 94 people without skin tags and 104 people with skin tags. Researchers found people who had more than 30 skin tags were at an increased risk of diabetes. In addition, people with skin tags had a higher frequency of diabetes. They also noted a link between the total number of skin tags and the mean fasting plasma glucose (r).
In a study of 98 people who had 5 or more skin tags, researchers studied the association between insulin resistance and skin tags. They found the presence of multiple skin tags was strongly related with insulin resistance regardless of other risk factors (r).
In this study, the researchers objective was to find an association between skin tags and diabetes. They compared a group of 51 people with skin tags to a group of 51 people without. They concluded the group with skin tags had a higher frequency of diabetes and noted the presence of skin tags was important in the early diagnosis of diabetes (r).
The studies above have proved a connection between insulin resistance, diabetes and skin tags. By following a nutrition plan with foods that can prevent blood sugar spikes and high insulin, you may prevent skin tags from forming.

- Exercise and get regular daily physical activity. Take walks, jog and yoga.
- Try activities that can lower stress like massages, meditation, yoga and breathing exercises.
- Eat potassium rich foods which can help lower insulin levels. Try getting potassium from plant based foods like cruciferous vegetables.
